During WeCare Wales Week 16 – 22 November, Communities For Work (CFW) are working in partnership with Flintshire County Council’s Workforce Development Team to deliver its third ‘Pathway into Social Care’ training programme.
This programme gives local people an opportunity to gain the training and skills necessary to work in the Social Care, providing care and support to the most vulnerable in our society.
The training which will take place virtually via zoom involves accredited training on a variety of subjects including; first aid, health & safety and infection control, food safety and safeguarding.
At the end of the programme local care employers will be on hand to provide information on available vacancies for participants to apply.
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Social Services, Councillor Christine Jones, said:
"During recent times, we have all seen the importance of those working in the social care and early years sector, and Wales needs compassionate, resourceful and creative people to support individuals to live their lives to the full. Wales will need 20,000 more people to work in caring roles with adults and children by 2030 if it is to keep pace with the growing demand for care services and provide support for communities across the country."
Communities For Work is a voluntary programme to help those adults furthest away from the labour market into employment. The programme targets long term unemployed and economically inactive adults and 16-24 year olds not in employment education or training from across Flintshire. It seeks to increase their employability and to move into or closer to employment.
Flintshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Development, Councillor Derek Butler, said:
"In these unprecedented times, Communities For Work Flintshire continues to provide invaluable support for individuals looking for work. This includes job seekers, employees looking for assistance, local businesses or individuals looking to set up their own business.
"Although our offices are currently closed, our employees are in work and are on hand to provide the help you need."
They are still able to offer a wide range of training support available to suit your needs! Supporting individuals who are looking to develop new relevant skills for:
- EmploymentWork
- Placements
- Voluntary Work
Due to social distancing guidelines, the team has adapted and is currently only delivering training via distance learning.
